Climate and Youth Programmes
My passion in environmental science and climate change has led me to seek out and connect like-minded individuals, as well as find ways to work together with other young leaders and address global issues. Below are some of my most impactful networking opportunities and contributions to the sustainability and climate space.

Understanding Risk Himalayan Climate Data Field Lab 2024
Toronto Climate Observatory, University of Michigan, United Nations University, and Nanyang Technological University
May to June 2024
Kathmandu, Nepal
Over the course of four weeks, the Understanding Risk (UR) Himalayan Climate Data Field Lab 2024 brought together over 120 academics and practitioners from 19 countries across the world to discuss climate data gaps and applications, as well as explore innovative data visualisation techniques. Tapping onto the format of an unconference, the activities and events of the event were self-led participants of the field lab, creating a dynamic space for cross-disciplinary collaborations and exchange.
As a Master in Public Policy student, I added to melting pot of ideas by bringing a policy perspective to multiple conversations, including the understanding of climate data end-user needs, data visualisation and dialogues with working groups such as energy transition and human-wildlife coexistence in a world of climate change. I also conducted a workshop on the use of design thinking to identify data gaps and understand user needs in data interpretation, as well as synthesised a set of personas that are data-driven and represent the perceptions of climate change by Nepali citizens.

Ocean and Climate Youth Ambassador Program
Peace Boat (NGO global cruise)
June to July 2018
Northern countries
The Ocean and Climate Youth Ambassador Program by NGO Peace Boat brought seven young people from the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean, and the Caribbean to travel onboard its ship and engage in capacity training while raising awareness about the impact of ocean degradation and climate change issues affecting these regions. Visiting 10 countries in the Northern regions, these ambassadors spread their messages to both civil society organizations and governments across the world, spurring action to preserve and protect the ocean and environment against threats like climate change.
As one of the ambassadors, I shared about the impact of climate change on coral reefs in the Maldives and highlighted the importance of climate action and sustainability in multiple seminars and panels with governmental, civil and UN organisations, including a talk at the UN Headquarters. Throughout our travels, we learnt much from the inspiring actions of many activists and NGOs, and also gained insight on solutions from domain experts and academics. The experience had been immensely impactful and given me much confidence about my own voice and ability in making a change in the climate space.
Our Ocean Youth Leadership Summit
Sustainable Ocean Alliance (SOA),
in conjunction with UN Our Ocean Conference

The Our Ocean Leadership Summit was great a opportunity to network with other like-minded and passionate youth leaders. Meeting peers in the ocean conservation space had been incredibly empowering and motivating, as it was brimming with the inspiring success stories of others, and reinforced my commitment to environmental conservation.

Singapore-Indonesia Youth Leader Exchange Program
National Youth Council (NYC)
October 2019
Singapore
Over a one-week programme with youth delegates from Indonesia, we attended workshops and site visits with private and non-governmental organisations with significant sustainability initiatives, including a visit to Ground-up Initiative and Unpakt, alongside our Indonesian counterparts.
Throughout the exchange, we also learnt much about our commitments and endeavours in environmental stewardship and sustainability across all the delegates, sharing a myriad of perspectives and knowledge about our work in the sustainability sphere. Through a buddy system with our Indonesian peers, we had the opportunity to interact more deeply with one another as well, and got to understand each other's culture better.
